Digital SAT score calculator
Enter how many questions you answered correctly and get an estimated score range. It is an estimate, not an official score.
Questions you got right
A full-length digital SAT has 54 Reading and Writing questions and 44 Math questions.

The total estimate on the 400 to 1600 scale
Every number here is MockingBear's estimate, rounded to the nearest 10. It is not a score report, and it is not produced or checked by the College Board.
Why a range instead of one score
The digital SAT is section-adaptive. Each section is split into two modules, and the questions in the second module depend on how you did in the first. Two people can answer the same number of questions correctly, take different routes through a section, and finish with different scaled scores.
Scoring also does not treat every question as worth the same. So a raw count — the number of questions you got right — cannot be turned into one exact scaled score from the outside. Anything that gives you a single number from a raw count is being more precise than the test allows. This page answers with a range instead.
How this estimate works
This is MockingBear's own model, written from scratch. It uses no College Board conversion table, curve, or question, and it is not calibrated against anyone's scored test.
First it takes the fraction of a section you answered correctly and puts it on the 200 to 800 scale with one mild bend, so the middle of the range sits a little above a straight line. The bend reflects that a section's questions are not equally hard: the last few right answers move the score more than the first few.
Then it widens that point into a band. The band is about 20 points wide at the ends of the scale, where a raw count pins the score down reasonably well, and up to about 60 points in the middle, where the second-module routing moves the result most. For the total, the two section bands are combined so the total is vaguer than either section but not as vague as both added together, because the sections are routed and weighted separately.
Finally both ends of every band are rounded outward to a multiple of 10 and kept inside the real scale: 200 to 800 for a section, 400 to 1600 for the total.
What it cannot tell you
The calculator only knows two counts. It does not know which questions you missed, which modules you were routed into, or how the form you took was scored, so it cannot replace a score report or a scored practice test. Treat it as a rough expectation, and use the skills behind the count to decide what to study.
Common questions
- Is this an official SAT score?
- No. It is an estimate from MockingBear's own model. Only the College Board reports official SAT scores.
- Why is the range wider in the middle?
- In the middle of the scale, the second module you are routed into changes the outcome most, so the same raw count is consistent with a wider span of scores. Near the top and bottom there is less room for the routing to move the result.
- What counts as a raw score?
- The number of questions you answered correctly: out of 54 in Reading and Writing and out of 44 in Math on a full-length digital SAT. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, so an unanswered question and a wrong answer count the same here.
- Does MockingBear give me a score?
- A full practice test in MockingBear comes back with its own estimated range built from your answers. The skill check does not give a score: it is 20 untimed questions that show which skills need work first.
- Can I use this for a practice test I took somewhere else?
- Yes, as long as it was a full-length digital SAT with 54 Reading and Writing questions and 44 Math questions. Count the questions you got right in each section and enter the two numbers.
See which skills to work on
The skill check is 20 questions with no timer, 10 Reading and Writing and 10 Math. It shows which skills need work first. It does not give an SAT score.
